In a long break, I have uploaded instalment 7 of The Severis Tales, called “The New Neighbours.” It is one of the larger ones, at roughly 13,400 words, divided into 4 tabbled parts for easy viewing pleasure.
In this story, the Severis family has new neighbours for the first time in ten years, Leena faces yet another bump in the road when she learns of their lives and what they did back in their home country. Meanwhile, Larry is contending with the aftermath of an off-the-cuff compliment to a woman that lives on his street that has him opening up a new road in life.
I have done a lot of editing and revising to make it work, but this story has not been beta read nor proofed by another set of eyes.
This instalment introduces several new characters into the Algenon universe. They are many of the families who live on Pine Street, the east end community where the Severis family resides. They will, like many other characters, be involved at some point in future stories, either directly or as a supporting character.
As I’ve mentioned before, the whole point of The Severis Tales is mostly in the amateur sphere. That is, they show a continous improvement to writing and editing and even storytelling. They are not always test/beta read nor proofed by another person. I am aware that this will likely backfire on me in context to my reputation. The real point to these stories is that of a brain dump for ideas, and therapy to just publish them, announce them, and cross my fingers in the hopes that someone will read them.
Please comment on them or tell me on Twitter what you think. It’s my slow attempt to get myself stuck out of my shell, even if it sounds juvenile.
