Hello all,
As I’m making progress in fixing all the problems with the world of Elineer, I thought I’d share with you one inch of progress I’ve made so far: the Da’Nar Calendar.
The Calendar is a fixed 6-month, 9-weekday system that has 369 days. There are no leap years in Elineer. They say the ancient astronomer Da’Nar calculated the planet takes exactly three-hundred-and-sixty-nine days to orbit the Sun, much to his extreme annoyance. The published works were filled with angry rants about how precise the calculation was… But either way, modern Elineer began on the 1st of Vandar, 1cy, or “common year 1.”
This is pretty close to what the final product will be, and most likely will be the final product.
The weekdays are: Sanda, Randa, Thila, Merada, Vesta, Palla, Camma, Jalla, Serada. First day of the week is Sanda and ends with Serada. The months, in order, are: Vandar, Frulenar, Malendar, Arilenar, Nocturnar, Decrembar.
Are there seasons? Indeed. I will list them here in bullet point. See the image below, but I will put up a proper calendar later on.
- Winter: 93 days, begins on the 40th of Decrember and ends on the 10th of Frulenar. The first calendar month, Vandar, has no season change; it is a winter month.
- Spring: 92 days, begins on the 11th of Frulenar and ends on the 42nd of Malendar.
- Summer: 92 days, begins on the 43rd of Malendar and ends on the 11th of Nocturnar. The month of Arilenar has no season change, it is a summer month.
- Autumn: 92 days, begins on the 12th of Nocturnar and ends on the 39th of Decrembar.
Previously, I had used a season-based calendar system that did not account into further groupings of days, much to my demented cost. It was nearly impossible to cross-reference. So, I created this system, as we humans are most accustomed to our own common calendar systems. In effect, this is purely for your sanity and mine.
Here is a screenshot of the calendar system with seasons. Click on it to expand:
