News: The Severis Tales and Branding Changes!

by | December 28, 2023

Hey all, it’s Patrick. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas or Yule or just a happy holiday season.

It’s been a while since I did any update. But I assure you, I am actually hard at work writing. I’ve been busy with real life commitments and writing a set of stories for The Severis Tales and readying that for publication. On top of that, I’ve got a few other ideas for series I’m thinking about doing a few short stories for. Because of this, I’ve stayed relatively quiet on X/Twitter (I’m still there, just haven’t commented in some time), so I can focus on getting set up.

The Severis Tales

It’s The Severis Tales and some website news I wanted to talk about today. You see, I’m very near completion of the first book of The Severis Tales, called Semi-fantasy Stories of the Ordinary. I’ve primed the manuscript and I’m tweaking the KDP e-book format and getting the paperback version ready for production. I’m just experimenting with a cover now. Although it is The Severis Tales and they are a series of stories, my heart went into these and I am proud of these works, these small lenses into the lives of ordinary people on a planet far, far away.

With the launch of Semi-fantasy Stories of the Ordinary happening sometime soon, I created a dedicated site for The Severis Tales that stands apart from the Patrick L. Rivers website. A simple site that reflects its simple logo and eventually simple book cover. Everything TST will happen here. Any updates will be reflected on the main website as well. The website is not yet available; I am still making changes to it and finalizing details. When it becomes available, the section will disappear off the main website, and a new link will appear to the new site.

Stay tuned for incoming updates!

Branding Change

If you’ve visited the website before or seen me around Twitter, I went by the name Patrick Rivers. As I got closer to finishing this first book, I did a little searching (something I had done before, but evidently not enough) and found a few other people—either real or as a pen name—under the same name. Out of a little self-consciousness and perhaps professionalism, I’ve done a small and simple rebranding by putting an initial in my name. Patrick Rivers was a pseudonym, after all. Besides, I like the “L” in my new name.

So, I am now Patrick L. Rivers. The “L” doesn’t have a full name attached to it, but if one were to ask me, I always liked Lorne. So, in full, Patrick Lorne Rivers is me.

Otherwise, apart from some editing across the site, everything else is the same. The URL for the website will stay the same, as will the contact e-mail and mailing address. I’ve also updated some policy information to reflect the site as it is now.

As always, if you have inquiries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
